Ghana Black Stars coach Akwesi Appiah has named Dede Ayew the son of Ghana’s football legend Abedi Pele as Captain of the National team whiles Inter Milan star Kwadwo Asamoah deputizes him.
This has come up after the president Nana Akuffo Addo intervened in convincing Skipper Asamoah Gyan to accept the duty of a General captain of the team.
Earlier, regular captain Asamoah Gyan refused to be part of the team and released a statement indicating that he has retired from international football but the president called on him to rescind his decision 48hours after he made the public declaration.
It was also speculated that a spiritualist advised coach Akwesi Appiah to strip off the armband from Baby Jet Asamoah Gyan.
Current reports say that Asamoah Gyan has been named in coach Akwesi Appiah’s preliminary 29-man squad which is expected to depart for camping in Dubai ahead of this year’s AFCON which will be held in Egypt.
